Report: Antiaging Key Motivator in Skin Care Purchases
Antiaging continues to be a key motivator for purchase among women skin care users, according to a recent report from The NPD Group, a market research company in Port Washington, NY. Seventy-five percent of female skin care users use skincare products to look the best they can for their age, according to the report.

Whereas antiaging continues to be a key influencer for usage, 21% of women facial skin care users are not using any antiaging moisturizers, serums, or treatments. In addition, of those consumers using antiaging serums or treatments, almost a quarter of them (23%) are using these products less than once per day.

When asked what benefits are important in facial skin care products, 53% of the women surveyed say that wrinkle/line reduction, firming/lifting, and other "antiaging benefits" were extremely or very important to them. Among women 35 years and older, 62% of 35- to 54-year-olds and 65% of over 55 versus 26% of 18- to 34-year-olds.

The report concludes that the antiaging market as a whole needs to do a better job of educating the public about its products.
